Yardeni Mitochondrial Research Lab

Research at the Yardeni Lab
The Yardeni Lab is uniquely specialized in characterizeing mitochondrial genetics and function. We use human cellular samples, as well as unique animal models. We utilize our technical knowledge in order to investigate the role of the mitochondria in different diseases and healthy states, such as in cancer, mitochondrial disease, reproduction and more.
In addition to mitochondrial function, we use different cellular, immunological and sequencing techniques in order to further our understanding of the metabolic mechanisms underlying different pathophysiological phenomena.

Mitochondrial diseases
We are investigating the underlying mechanism of a variety of known and unknown mitochondrial disorders, in cooperation with the Metabolic disease unit in Sheba medical center.

Immunometabolism
We are interested in the role of mitochondrial genetics and function in he immune function and cross-talk.

Women's health
We are studying the effect of the mitochondrial genome and bioenergetics on women's health.
